Omelets in a Bag How to be A Star
Time: 15 minutes
In kindergarten, we learn to read for 3 purposes: for fun, for information, and to follow directions. Recipes are a great example of reading to follow directions.
Materials Required:
  • Quart size zip lock freezer bags (one per person)
  • Permanent marker
  • 2 eggs per person
  • Optional fillings: tomatos, cheese, peppers, onions, olives, cooked bacon or sausage, etc.
  • One large pot of boiling water
Directions:
Each person makes his or her own omelet by adding 2 eggs and chosen ingredients to a bag. After 13 minutes, open the bags and the omelet will slide out easily - a beautiful log shaped omelet, light and fluffy, no dirty dishes or fry pans to scrub! Prepare to be amazed!
  1. Wash hands thoroughly.
  2. Write name on bag with permanent marker.
  3. Crack 2 eggs (large or extra large) into the bag.
  4. Squeeze and shake bag to combine well.
  5. Add optional ingredients, squeeze out excess air, leaving egg mixture in the bottom of the bag, and zip bag closed.
  6. Place bags into rolling, boiling water for 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 at a time.
  7. Open the bag and slide omelet onto a plate.
