  • Is your kindergartener getting enough sleep? According to Instructor Magazine (Scholastic, 2006), children between the ages of 5-12 should be getting at least 10 hours of sleep each night. Children who don’t get enough sleep often show signs of inattention.
  • Help your child publish a book.
  • Practice sight words daily. Click here for sight additional word activities and reproducibles.
  • Enforce the 3-finger pencil grip when your child is writing.
  • Have your child write his/her first name and last initial on all papers before beginning the assignment.
  • Have your child practice buttoning, zipping, and tying apparel.
  • Check folders and book bags daily.
  • Share your theme or holiday project suggestions and book titles with other kindergarten families.
