What are Progress Reports?
A progress report is an overall assessment of your child’s kindergarten growth; it is presented in a checklist format. Progress reports will be distributed each quarter. Your child’s achievement of the kindergarten curriculum outcomes will be assessed and reported in the following manner:
· Consistently Evident: The student consistently exhibits all or most of the performance and does so at a proficient level, without requiring adult assistance and/or encouragement.
· Developing: The student has demonstrated some or all of the performances, but not consistently. The student can completes tasks, but still needs help and encouragement. The student has taken important steps toward achievement.
· Not Evident: The student rarely or never exhibits the performance independently. He or she may demonstrate behaviors which interfere with achievement, such as refusing to try. The student needs more time and practice.
When reviewing your child’s progress report, please keep in mind that content
criteria increases with each quarter. After the first quarter, additional goals
are established for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th
quarters.
Parent/teacher conferences will occur after the first quarter. At
that time, student work samples and classroom observations will be shared, as
well as suggestions for support and/or enrichment. You can make the most of
your 20-minute conference by coming prepared with questions, comments and/or
concerns. An open line of communication prior to the initial parent/teacher
conference will strengthen the parent/teacher partnership that supports your
child’s kindergarten success. Requests for subsequent parent/teacher conference
can be made at any time by the teacher or the parent.
