If you are going to e-mail a photo or other attachment to someone, a good rule of thumb
is that all attachments on a single email should have a combined
size that does not exceed 500kb-750kb (half to three-quarters of a megabyte). If you want to send more,
put the additional attachment(s) in a separate e-mail.
In general, the resolution (dimensions) of a photo should be no greater than 640x480 for e-mail.
