Mrs. Lynn Hess's volunteer experience and passion for teaching were the driving forces behind her present role as a
kindergarten teacher. As a community volunteer, she has actively participated in her children's activities for
many years. She has volunteered as a Cub Scout Leader, a 4-H Leader, a Sunday School
teacher and Bible School coordinator, as well as a parent volunteer within the public school system.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Towson University in December of 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Early Childhood Education. Prior to graduating, Mrs. Hess completed a prekindergarten and a first grade
student-teaching placement at Hebbville Elementary School in Randallstown, Maryland, and a kindergarten
student-teaching placement at Abingdon Elementary School in Abingdon, Maryland. Her student-teaching
placements and volunteer experiences were valuable resources in formulating her
kindergarten classroom philosophy. She is currently enrolled in the Educational
Technology Master's Program at Towson University. She chose this program because she wants to expand her knowledge of the computer and
explore the mounting possibilities that modern technology offers, as well as incorporate technology into her
classroom practices.
Lynn has been married to Patrick Hess, a lifelong Harford County resident, for 25 years. Their eldest son, Ryan, recently graduated from college with a degree in business. Their daughter, Lauren, is entering her junior year of college, studying English. Matthew is beginning his sophomore year of college, studying business. All three children began their public education at JES, where Lynn and Pat were active volunteers and business partners.
Mrs. Hess has many interests outside the teaching profession. She enjoys
photography, painting, reading, walking, swimming, and gardening to name a few.
For years she has tackled a summer vegetable garden,
experiencing a fluctuation of fruitful and unrewarding bounties. Lynn and Pat preserve an annual
batch of salsa using their homegrown tomatoes and several varieties of peppers. They also enjoy an evening out
to dinner and the movie theater. Above all else, they enjoy spending quality time with family and friends.
